SERVICES
Adolescent & Adult Individual Therapy
Individual therapy can be a way to process life events and emotional and behavioral patterns, in order to build insight and resilience to create long-term change. Starting and remaining engaged in therapy can be difficult given life stressors and demands, but we will collaborate to set and work toward your goals in a way that is best for you.
Family & Couples Therapy
Families and relationships experience stress just as individuals do, and it can take a toll on connections to one another. Changes or transitions often lead us to revert to prior patterns of interaction that can leave individuals or the group frustrated, unfulfilled, or unprepared. We can work together to set relational goals and change longstanding patterns so that family members and partners can be supportive and supported, whatever the future holds.
Professional Consultation & Supervision
If you are pursuing clinical practice supervision toward your professional licensure in New York State, I am SIFI-certified and can provide this support as you grow your career. Professional case consultation for adolescent and family cases, in a collaborative style with treatment teams or individual providers, is also available.
Community Workshops
School or community-based workshops or groups can be powerful ways to share best practices and approaches, discuss shared challenges, and find support. These events can cover a range of topics related to child & adolescent development, family & couples emotional wellness, educational advocacy, and more.
Approach
I use an eclectic approach, integrating concepts from different areas of theory and practice, including:

Systems Theory
By thinking about the relationships and interactions between different parts of a system (e.g., individual, family, community, culture of origin, societal expectations and pressures), we can create or increase stability within those relationships and connections.
Psychodynamic Therapy
An insight-oriented therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy is talk therapy that aims to build self-awareness and create change by exploring past and current, conscious and unconscious influences on behaviors, choices, and emotions, and allows you to begin to make positive changes to relationship and emotional patterns.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Together, we identify your negative or overwhelming thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that interfere with your ability to live your life to its fullest, and create a guided plan to address these patterns. CBT is a goal-oriented, evidence-based practice.

FAQs
Do you accept insurance? What are your fees?
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not accept insurance as a form of payment and clients pay for sessions directly. However, I am able to provide financial statements that can potentially be used for out-of-network reimbursement (if your plan includes this coverage), or FSA/HSA reimbursement. Additionally, I am a member of Open Path Psychotherapy Collective, which provides access to affordable therapy for members.
Standard session fees are as follows:
45-minute individual session: $200
55-minute couples or family session: $250
Clients located in Mexico and Guatemala who are interested in coaching may contact me directly for local fee information.
Ability to pay should never be a barrier to accessing therapy. Please contact me to discuss if this is a concern for you.
How does online therapy work and what types of clients do you see via web sessions?
The online therapy experience should be as close to the in-person experience as possible. It doesn’t require any special software or level of tech-savvy, and I will walk you through the process. I see adolescents, adults, families and couples for a variety of needs via secure videoconference sessions. Due to license restrictions, US-based clients must be located in New York State in order for me to provide services. Outside of the US, clients who are comfortable participating in therapy in English may be able to participate in online therapy with me.
Do you offer free consultations?
You may feel some uncertainty about starting therapy and wonder if my style and approach would be a fit for you. We can schedule a initial phone consultation to answer your questions and discuss whether the work would be a match for your needs and goals, and I will continue to work with you in our initial sessions to determine goodness of fit.
Are you a licensed provider outside of the US?
Ered Massie, LCSW is currently licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State. This license is restricted to the jurisdiction in which it was issued, and does not represent an international practice license. As far as I am aware, no such license exists. Many countries have their own regulations for the practice of therapy, and some have none. As a result, I am limited on what I am allowed to call myself abroad and where I am allowed to practice, because I am not and cannot be licensed in every country around the world. Many countries allow the ability to practice as therapists, as long as I do not claim restricted titles. Because of this, I need to state that I am not a licensed provider in any country outside of the US. Before entering into any relationship I will always discuss the services with you and reserve the right to decline providing services based on your location.
